Nathan Blaze - Demo: Story

DEMO - Story

The Nathan Blaze Demo was recorded in the spare room of an apartment (it was more like a sweatbox) by Brandon "BeaLack" Lackey for Verede Grace Superior Production during the summer of 2006.

Nate and BeaLack met in college through their mutual interest in Hip-Hop music. After hearing a compilation of songs that Nate had recorded over the years, BeaLack convinced him that he shouldn't let his talent go to waste and that he should record a more professional Demo.

The two creative geniuses got together and hatched a plan to produce four songs that would showcase Nate's talent on the mic. They came up with some solid song ideas that would serve as an introduction to the artist named Nathan Blaze. At the beginning of the week BeaLack would produce a beat, give it to Blaze, Blaze would write, and the song would be recorded that weekend. The Demo was recorded one song a weekend over the course of a month.

The final product was designed and mastered at Discmakers in February of 2008.

Did You Know? - Fun Facts

On the song "Get Up," the verse Blaze spits after he is introduced by the battle host is not actually 30 seconds, it is only 20 seconds. This is an homage to the first time he ever battled at an open mic. Blaze actually lost the battle because he didn't rhyme for the full amount of time he was given!

"Get Up" was originally done over a reggaeton style beat and was remixed by BeaLack after the fact to the version that appears on the Nathan Blaze Demo.

The song "Just Like Me" was originally written in 2001 and re-recorded in 2006 upon recommendation of Brandon "BeaLack" Lackey, the producer of the Nathan Blaze Demo.
